A comfortable coach departs at 08:30 for the scenic 90 minute drive to this evocative and fairy tale venue in the Arctic wilderness. Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, the Tromsø Ice Domes are built every year as the Polar Night approaches. The snow and ice art reflect the unique bond between man and nature in a unique and breath-taking manner. The ice bars, our ice cinema, ice suits, and the ice restaurant have themes that change year after year, conveyed through beautiful colored lighting and wonderful ice sculptures. In our guided tours, we always guarantee to teach our clients a lot about the Arctic history.
On arrival at the Tromsø Ice Domes, you will be greeted by your guide who will direct you to either the dogsledding tour, or the ice domes visit (whichever is first, the order may vary based on availability and weather). The dogyard is located a 10 minutes drive away from the ice domes tucked inside a valley surrounded by mountains, forests, and endless possibilities for exploration.
Dog sledding is a tradition of travel in the Arctic. It´s an adventurous activity for your Arctic holiday in Tromsø. We love doing this and want to share the amazing feeling of leading a dog sled with happy and strong Alaskan huskies. From our kennel we slide into the snow-covered valley of Tamokdalen, between trees and over hills. You don´t need any experience because our guides will give you all the equipment you need, teach you how to use the sled and then into the wild we go. You will drive in pairs and rotate halfway along the track.
Once you are done with your dogsledding tour, your next excursion will begin with a visit to the majestic Tromsø Ice Domes. Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, Tromso Ice Domes is built every year as the Polar Night approaches. At the Ice Domes you will join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of an ice hotel and the impact the snow has for the survival of our arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask questions to the experienced guide. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complementary. We also have a small group of reindeer located at the Ice Domes for our guests to visit, take photos, and watch our guide feed the reindeer.
Included : Transportation, guided tour of the ice hotel, short movie in the ice cinema, English speaking guide, non alcoholic ice shot in the ice bar, reindeer visit, dogsledding tour with a light meal, and clothing for the tours
